Kevin aims to see his clients prosper through maximising their tax benefits, strong financial planning and making the most of business opportunities.
Director of Tax
Vanda joined TW over 30 years ago and has acquired a great deal of knowledge during her time heading up the Tax Department. Being an expert on trust and estate matters, Vanda gives respected advice on often complex personal financial affairs or those with investible assets and is a trusted source of advice for many of our long standing clients.
Head of Audit and Assurance
Lisa joined the team as Audits and Accounts Manager in 2012 and has over 20 years of accounting experience. With an in-depth knowledge of the charities, education and other non-profit industries, she is particularly involved in developing our services to meet the needs of clients in these sectors.
Production Manager
Paul joined TW after a 25 year career in the motor industry. With the help of Xero Practice Manager he manages the smooth running of TW’s production team, ensuring all jobs get done efficiently, effectively and on time. He oversees the processing of incoming records and the TW archive system in addition to dealing with health and safety issues and liaising with any contractors working on site.
CEO
Dan joined TW in 2001 and his primary role is to deliver an outstanding service to his varied portfolio of commercial clients. This includes being truely pro-active and solving problems before they even become one. Effective tax planning and advice are a huge part of this.
Managing Director
Stephen’s ambition is to make accountancy more accessible to all by providing straightforward advice and a comprehensive service offering. His vision is the driving force behind the firm’s creative approach and he continues to implement new initiatives that enhance and support his clients’ business growth.
Independant Financial Advisor
Paul is our in-house Truly Independent Financial Advisor. Bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience spanning over 25 years, he advises both personal and corporate clients on matters such as pensions, life assurance, investments, Inheritance Tax planning as well as business and shareholder protection.


Head of XfE
Sam joined the team in 2013 and is passionate about saving schools time and money. He is a full ACCA member and heads up the XfE Team. As a huge cloud enthusiast you will find Sam always looking for ways in which schools can operate much more streamlined with the use of cloud technology.
Head of Bookkeeping
After previously spending 10 years in the leisure and retail industry, Katie brings her wealth of customer service experience to her role of managing the bookkeeping team, and VAT jobs. At TW she’s relishing working with a wide range of businesses.
Sales & Marketing Manager
Jessica has a diverse background in marketing, but has always been focused on producing creative campaigns that build up brands and her work at Thorne Widgery is no different.
Incorporating the innovative aspects of the firm into her own work she is always striving to make the brand more recognisable, be it via social media, the press or by word of mouth.
Being very results driven she likes to see the growth that the practice is enjoying.

Martin has been with the Company for over 25 years, providing effective accounting and tax advice to clients in the corporate sector and taking care of their statutory and compliance requirements. As a Director, he is also a valuable member of the Senior Management Team.
Lead Audit & Accounts Manager
Rebecca joined TW in 2010 as an HGTA accounts apprentice, and has since gained her AAT and ACCA qualifications to become a fully qualified accountant. Her role within TW involves managing audits of Charities, Companies and Academies and assisting, Lisa, Head of Audit.
Accounts & Tax Manager
Having worked in the accounts department starting as an apprentice over 10 years ago, Lizzie is now specialising within tax after completing the Chartered Tax Adviser qualification. Lizzie works alongside Vanda , assisting clients over a wide range of tax queries and advice.
Payroll Client Manager
Elaine joined the company in 2006 and is responsible, with Angela, for coordinating our clients’ payroll on a weekly, fortnightly and monthly basis, as well as processing their year-end paperwork. With over 20 years of Payroll experience, Elaine has enjoyed building a good rapport with her clients and ensuring that everything is processed on time.
Client Manager
Sarah joined TW in 2010 after moving from the banking sector and is ACCA qualified. She uses her agricultural background to look after a number of agricultural clients as well as managing a variety of commercial clients.
Commercial Director
Prior to joining TW Andy spent 25 years with Barclays as a Business Manager where he advised owner managed businesses of all sizes. It’s this wealth of experience that makes him a creative problem solver and the natural choice to help clients in any bank negotiations. In addition, he works closely with TW’s X for Education (XfE) team. XfE is a brilliant financial management solution for Academy Schools and MATs that is so simple to use, once adopted, no-one wants to part with it.
Head of Reception and PA to Stephen Smallwood
With her vast experience in customer care Janet’s the perfect candidate to ensure the smooth running of reception and to manage Stephen! She co-ordinates a fantastic team that work well to ensure all at TW have the background support they need.


Product Lead
Evan supports Sam and is responsible for delivering a smooth transition for schools making the move to XfE, he’s always on hand to offer advice and guidance through set up and is an expert on all of the systems we use. You’ll often find Evan researching new features to add/use within our ecosystem.


Cloud Integrations Specialist
Joining us in 2022, Connor is an AAT qualified accountant (soon to be ACCA qualified) with a passion for innovation and the cloud.
He assists clients as they make the move to Xero, transferring data and ensuring systems are in place for handover.
Connor’s goal is to help clients make full use of Xero and the integrating apps making it an even more powerful business tool.
Bookkeeper
Stephanie joined TW in 2020, bringing with her years of experience supporting the agricultural sector with her bookkeeping skills and knowledge. She enjoys working as part of the team and now works with a wide range of industries. Stephanie is ATT and AAT qualified, ensuring she can provide a range of services to businesses and individuals.
Ludlow Office Manager
Joining TW in 2021, James is an experienced accountant who shares the firm’s forward-thinking, proactive approach.
With broad expertise in accounting, taxation and business advisory services, he enjoys building close client relationships, through his local connections in and around Ludlow.
Payroll Assistant
Sam has a passion for helping clients with their payroll issues and supports the wider team at Thorne Widgery. Joining in 2020, he is proud to be part of a successful and forward-thinking company and enjoys getting stuck in with the payroll department to keep everything running smoothly.
Tax Manager
Megan has over 25 years experience in tax accountancy, moving to TW from Baker Tilly in 2014. She deals with the tax aspects of a varied client portfolio.
Accounts Manager
Jarrett joined TW in 2011 and has since completed his ACCA and AAT qualifications. His role within the company involves working alongside Martin Davies to manage his corporate portfolio.
Audit & Accounts Manager
Hannah joined TW in 2013 as a HGTA apprentice and is now working towards ACCA. Her role within the company is in the Audit team and includes visiting clients onsite to carry out audit work for both internal and Financial audits and preparing accounts for clients. Hannah is also involved in the development of less experienced members of the team.
Accounts Senior
Charlotte joined TW in 2015 after 5yrs at Santander. She loves working with numbers but found long-term, banking wasn’t offering the career opportunities she was looking for particularly in auditing. Having successfully passed Level 4 AAT and now recently completing her ACCA studies, Charlotte looks forward to passing on her knowledge & experience to other new apprentices.
Payroll Assistant
Angela joined Thorne Widgery in 2016 bringing with her many years experience within payroll. She works alongside Elaine and assists clients, in particular our education clients, with all of their payroll needs including regular submissions to HMRC together with pension and BACS processing.
Receptionist and Administrator
With 28 years experience in all departments within an accountancy practice, Lisa is able to support the Client Managers and our clients working with Janet and the admin team.
Senior Accountant
Rebecca joined TW in late 2017 after completing her ACA qualification, having worked in practice for 7 years across a wide variety of clients gaining experience in accounts, audit, VAT and tax. She is looking forward to continuing to develop her skills and career whilst assisting Lizzie and Dan preparing and reviewing client accounts.
Administration Assistant
Jan works closely with the Tax Department for all their administration requirements and manages all the tax books in progress. As Events Co-Ordinator she always ensures everything is ready to a high standard for all TW seminars and conferences.
Accounts Senior
Wendy joined TW in 2014 after 25 years at Baker Tilly and has invaluable experience in preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships, small limited companies and charity accounts. Wendy works extensively with the agricultural team preparing accounts for clients whose businesses include poultry, dairy, arable and fruit.

Hollie joined TW after completing an Accounting Degree, she has now completed her ACCA qualification and her role mainly consists of preparing company accounts, VAT returns and management accounts. In addition, she is involved in training clients to use Xero and assisting with any queries they may have.


Developer
Michael joined us in May 2018 and as our developer he creates, tests and improves our systems to ensure maximum efficiency. He is very hands on with any systems he creates and is always willing to identify how schools can benefit from any new features.


Leads Coordinator
Kylie joined the company 4 years ago and is an integral part of our systems onboarding team, dealing with various items behind the scenes to make your experience of XfE seamless.
Audit & Accounts
Joined TW after completing a mathematics degree at Cardiff University and now studying towards ACCA qualification at Newport. Enjoy playing and watching football and tennis and playing drums. Michael joined TW because of its reputation and the desire to become an accountant, and is now working in our busy Audit team.
Accounts Technician
Starting in August 2018, Ben joined TW after already gaining experience in accounts departments in various other places. He is now studying for AAT level 3. Although only being with us for a short period of time, Ben has already worked through the books of a range of clients from Consultants to Builders to Lorry Hire.
Accounts Technician
George joined us in July 2018 after completing A Levels in Statistics, Physical Education and Modern History, George found working with numbers most appealing so he is now working with us in our Agricultural team. After researching many different accountants he found that we were the best fit for him as we take on many apprentices who train and develop with us. He has now completed his AAT and is studying towards the prestigious ACA qualification.
Accounts and Tax Trainee
Working in the accounting team, Alex has previous experience supporting a business analyst at publisher Newsquest prior to beginning his training in August 2019. With A levels in Business Studies, Psychology and Statistics, Alex has a lot to bring to the role and is working with clients on a range of matters.
Audit & Accounts Trainee
Liam supports a range of clients across a broad variety of sectors and enjoys the challenge of working in new areas and fields. Prior to joining the firm in 2020, he had experience across a cross-section of industries, such as education, construction, automotive and agriculture. He is undertaking his ACCA training at TW, having completed a degree in Business Management & Accounting and Finance.
Accounts Trainee
Joseph came to TW with a passion to learn more about the accountancy profession in 2020. He loves working with our friendly team as he studies towards his AAT qualification. Joseph supports the wider accounts team and is working hard to learn more about clients and the support they require.

Taz joined Thorne Widgery in July 2019 having previously worked at another practice in Herefordshire alongside his studies at university, where he achieved a first-class degree in Accounting and Finance.During his time in practice, he has worked mainly with sole traders, but he is looking to expand his expertise during his training at Thorne Widgery. He will be working within the firm’s audit team and is looking forward to interacting with clients and working on-site, as well as completing his studies for the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification.

With a degree in Business Management, Ben joins the practice with a good knowledge of the business environment. He joined our accounts department in August 2019 and is currently studying towards his ACCA qualification, alongside assisting clients from a variety of sectors.
